How To Use Wood Chips For BBQ?
Do not have a smoker, but still want to add some nice smoked flavor to your food? Make your meat taste smoky with a grill. Add some wood chips while grilling and get awesome results!
First, you need to choose a grilling method. It could be a charcoal, electric, or gas grill. As for wood chips, you can put them in a smoker box.
You can also make a smoker box yourself. Just cup a piece of aluminum foil so that you could put 3-4 handfuls of chips inside. Seal the foil around the chips and poke several holes in the package with a fork.
If you use a charcoal grill, heat the coals, and when they become gray put the wood chips package directly on the coals. You can add food once the wood chips start to smoke.
Gas or electric grill
If you have a gas or electric grill, place a smoker box filled with wood chips on the hottest part of the grill. As soon as the wood chips start to smoke, you need to place it to a cooler part. You can also use an aluminum package with wood chips, which can be placed directly on the heated grill grates. Once the chips start to smoke, move them to a cooler spot. After that add your food and cook until it is ready.
On a TRU-Infrared grill, the wood chips can be put directly on the grates without a smoker box.
